F rom visiting two great trade shows, and showcasing our new and soon-to-be released features, to introducing South African Rand pricing, and praising our customers who are ahead of the game with sustainability, we run through the 6 achievements of 2019 so far!
Checked in at Shows
Our first two shows of the year were over in a flash, and what an awesome time we had! Kicking off exhibition season at Plasa Focus Leeds on May 14th & 15th, we caught up with lots of friendly faces on our stand, whilst also getting the chance to see the latest products from names such as High End Systems, CHAUVET Professional, and d&b audiotechnik, as well as over 175 other exhibitors. We then flew out to Orlando, FL for InfoComm 2019 from June 12th-15th! With over 1,000 exhibitors representing all areas of audiovisual technology, it was the perfect opportunity to see the new trends hitting the industry by storm.
So, what show is up next? We’ll be at Plasa London in September, and The Showman’s Show at Newbury Showground in October. We’re also looking at exhibiting at more shows all around the world in the near future, so we can visit our customers from across the globe. Do you have any shows to recommend? Let us know!
Increased our Support
As our software and user base grows, so does our team! We started as a team of 4 and we’ve rapidly grown over the past 5 years, bringing more and more employees on board helping support the product and rental businesses all around the world that are using Current RMS. Plus, who could turn down a place that has treat Fridays and bring your dog to work day?!
There are 3 things we love to do at Current; work closely with our customers, establish great relationships, and gain invaluable feedback for continuous product development!
With that in mind, we added some new Customer Champions to the team to give maximum support to all of you, as well as a new Marketing addition, to add a creative hand.
Built New Features
Our developers at Current have been working extremely hard this year building new features off the back of feedback from our customers and professionals across the entertainment industry. In the first half of 2019, we’ve released the following:
- Recalculate Opportunities: Recalculate updated costs and prices on your opportunities.
- Comparing Monthly Stats: How are your numbers compared to last month? Now you can see a profit comparison on your dashboard.
- Overbooking of Products: A new option on ‘Enforce stock availability’ allows overbooking of products but not assets.
- Reset Passwords: Improving system security within your account, by allowing admin users to reset user passwords.
Plus we’ve got lots of exciting, new features that we’re hoping to release very soon, including:
- Mobile Scanning App: Using the in-built camera on any iOS or Android device, users are able to scan barcodes and QR codes without needing an external scanner paired to their mobile device!
- Purchasing Beta: This ongoing feature gives users the ability to create and manage purchase orders for their sub-rentals, freelancers and manual costs in Current RMS.
- Temporary Containers: Enabling users to add serialized, bulk and non-stock items to flight cases & containers on a job-by-job basis.

Opened doors in South Africa
South Africa has been a key growth market for us here at Current RMS. Rehad Desai, chairperson of the Independent Producers Organization, and the South African Screen Federation, stated that the size of South Africa’s audiovisual industry “has doubled over the past 10 years.” With this in mind, we’ve introduced South African Rand pricing, enabling businesses in this location to pay in their regional currency. We look forward to attending a trade show here soon!

Practiced Sustainability
It’s not just Greta Thunberg and the climate protests that have taken action into saving our planet and sustaining the environment, the rental industry has too. Back in 2018, we wrote a blog celebrating earth day and discussing how we can all take a greener approach, showcasing some of our awesome customers including; Outkast Hire, ZooLoos and Ingram AV, who have all implemented sustainable processes into their businesses!
This year, we’ve seen other customers putting sustainability at the forefront of their future plans. SXS Events are one of many rental companies that implement environmentally friendly processes into their business.
We’re towards a paperless process, from prep to delivery, and without Current we couldn’t have made this happen.

Revamped our Resources
We always strive to ensure our blog is a gateway to providing useful resources for our customers and new businesses exploring Current RMS. With this in mind, we had a complete overhaul of our blog to pull through new categories including;
- Customer Spotlight highlighting case studies we’ve written with our amazing customers, showcasing integrations that have been created using our open API, as well as exploring a number of customer journeys that have taken place since implementing Current RMS.
- Tips & Tricks pulling through videos from our YouTube page, alongside useful content on areas of the system that are designed to save time and add flexibility to the day-to-day processes of every rental business.
At the beginning of 2019, we decided to create an interactive go-live guide that would help businesses set up their Current RMS system from scratch. It’s the perfect, easy read for any customers businesses that are new to Current, showing that getting started with a new rental management software doesn’t need to be a challenge.
The first 6 months of 2019 have been epic, from new features and employees, to new blog layouts and currencies! We look forward to what the next 6 months have in store.
