T his show really was our most successful one yet, being our fourth year exhibiting at PLASA London. We had so much fun catching up with our existing customers and new faces, too. From full product demonstrations to quick selfies, every visitor kept us on our toes. It was great to talk to new prospects who wanted to learn about how Current RMS can help them manage their rental business in the cloud.
In front of a vibrant backdrop of the latest technology and products for the AV and Lighting industry, we bumped into lots of familiar faces, including ER Productions, Swooshed Event Productions and Sussex Events Ltd. Some of our customers were exhibiting from impressive stands of their own, including Steeldeck and German Light Products.
Global Check In - Live Launch!
We were also extremely excited to release an unmissable new feature to the system during PLASA London - Global Check-in. Launched on the second day of the show, Global Check-in allows you to check in assets from multiple jobs, all from one screen. It’s perfect after a busy weekend, when you find yourself in a warehouse full of kit covering the floor, returned from different jobs. We couldn’t wait to launch the new feature until after PLASA - it was the perfect opportunity to demo it to all of our customers that attended.
It was also great to receive lots of positive feedback on newer updates to the system from our customers, including Serialized Containers and Online Document Approval, which were pushed live earlier this year. Hearing how you’re using Current RMS is worth it’s weight in gold: we’re always evolving our software, making frequent and seamless updates to the system based on your feedback and requests from the Online Customer Wishlist.

Unmissable Products on Display
We just about found the time to explore the rest of the packed-out show, even if it was very quickly and on the final day of exhibiting! It was a great chance to see the latest products on display as well as viewing the Innovation Gallery and Awards nominees.
Robe were drawing in the crowds with an impressive theatrical display to promote their new multi-purpose light, MegaPointe, which featured a robotic-style dancer covered in mirrors and illuminated by 42 rotating MegaPointe lights. The compact but powerful lights utilise a 470W short-arc lightsource, producing beams and spotlights in parallel with quick movements and smooth colour mixing. Take a look at our video to see the incredible light show and dancer in action!
Other product highlights included the Claypaky K-EYE LEDwash light, winner of a PLASA 2017 award for Innovation. The K-EYE boasts the ability to produce every colour and shade to a high standard, thanks to an LED light source module consisting of six chips. The Innovation Gallery showcased products nominated for an award because of their approach to new tech and sustainability. Other Innovation Awards winners included Elation, winning two, and City Theatrical for their product DMXcat. You can take a read of all eight winners here.
